Spirit Squad Alumni Email List

One of the first things I wanted to do as the KU cheer coach was to set up a KU Spirit Squad Alumni email list so that we can all stay in touch and spread the word about alumni events. If you're a former KU Spirit Squad member and would like to join the list, Click here then click the "Join This Group!" button.

KU Spirit Reunion: Oct 16, 2010

In the spirit of tradition, we'll reunite to cheer the Jayhawks at every home football game against Kansas State (which occurs every other year in Lawrence). The next one is October 16, 2010.

All former Spirit Squad members, including cheerleaders, yell leaders, Crimson Girls, Baby Blues, Rock Chalk Dancers, Red Peppers, Jay Janes, KuKus, PomPon girls and mascots, are invited to attend. This spirit-filled day will include a pre-game tailgate and pep rally on the Hill, the chance to reminisce with former spirit members, an opportunity to attend the game and in-game recognition.

Watch your mail and e-mail this summer for additional details, lodging information and registration forms, or visit the Alumni Association's Spirit Reunion page. For questions, please contact Nikki Epley, director of reunions, at nepley@kualumni.org or (785) 864-9769 (toll free at (800) 584-2957).

KU's first cheer squad in 1899.

I think somebody oughta record the names and a photo of every KU cheer squad since the first one in 1899. So let's do it! Email me (corey@kucheer.com) any info you can remember that isn't already listed (or correct any mistakes you see) in the tabs above, such as names of squad members (including yourself!), coaches, coordinators, squad photos, and nationals results. Include the school year (eg, "1985/1986") for each piece of info, and if possible list women with their maiden name and married name (eg, "Jane (Doe) Smith"). For photos, unfortunately I don't have the time or resources to scan them and mail them back to you, so you're on your own for scanning. Thanks!
